The Role

BDA Tech is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to oversee the performance, availability, security, and integrity of our database environments. In this Remote role, you will play a critical part in supporting business continuity, optimizing data systems, and ensuring our platforms are built to scale efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities

Administer, monitor, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Tune database performance by analyzing queries, indexing strategies, and system configurations.
Manage database security, access controls, patching, and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to support database design and deployment needs.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, incidents, and outages in a timely manner.
Support database capacity planning, upgrades, migrations, and system improvements.

Required Qualifications

5 to 8 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar database-focused role.
Strong knowledge of database administration fundamentals, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability.
Proficiency with SQL and experience working with relational database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
Solid understanding of database security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance best practices.
Experience supporting production environments and working in a remote, collaborative team setting.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a detail-oriented mindset.

Nice to Have

Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL.
Familiarity with automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Exposure to database migration projects or large-scale platform modernization initiatives.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD workflows related to database deployments.
